Industrial Clusters, Incubators and Innovation Ecosystems
Since 2009 The Future Cities Institute has been supporting the development Hi-Tech Industrial Cluster, Incubators, Innovation Centres and city wide Innovation Ecosystems.
With an emphasis on a “bottom-up” innovation processes that supports economic development and digital inclusion, we have helped foster geographical clusters of innovative firms, research centres and incubation facilities that foster the creation of new companies, commercialisation of innovations and creation of high-paid jobs in local economies.
The initial Jump Start prototype programme was run as a collaboration between the Palmerston North City Council, Massey University, Microsoft and The Future Cities Institute in 2016, which led to the establishment of an innovation pop-up hub in the heart of Palmerston North City
As Lead Facilitator, The Future Cities Institute worked with Microsoft and the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) to identify key industries stakeholders and opportunities to promote scientific research and innovative ideas in Georgia and facilitate partnership between innovation and technology.
Since 2009 The Future Cities Institute has been partnering with Microsoft and local, regional and national governments to support the development of digital economies, improve engagement with both citizens and enterprises and accelerate innovation in local economies.
