Innovation Program Design, Management and Recovery

Program Design

The Future Cities Institute excels in creating and delivering on a wide range of results-oriented innovation programs and initiatives that strengthen and build innovation capacity throughout urban economies.

We have design and delivered innovation and workforce development programs in over 28 countries providing executive education, technology boot camps for small-medium business, digital hackathons for funding agencies such as the Asia Development Bank and ICT industry engagement workshops and community events with major vendors such as Microsoft, HP and Vodafone.

In doing so, we’ve earned the trust of a variety of local governments, economic development agencies, multinational technology vendors, Universities and ICT industry associations.

Program Management

While project management is all about planning and doing the work to deliver on a specific objective, program management is about keeping the whole transformation and change on track to deliver something of value back to stakeholders over time. We can work with you to deliver:

  • Project Coordination: identifying, initiating, accelerating, decelerating, redefining and terminating projects within the program.
  • Transformation and Change: taking project outputs and managing change into business-as-usual so that outputs deliver tangible outcomes;
  • Benefits/Risk Management: define, quantify, measure and monitor both benefits and risk across the program execution.
  • Stakeholder Management and Communications: ensuring that relationships are curated and maintained throughout the life-cycle of the program by enabling productive two-way communication with all key stakeholders and communities.

Program Recovery

Sometimes even with the best intentions and resources, programs and projects get into trouble!

Variance in time, cost and/or scope may have exceeded acceptable levels and your risk profile is increasing day-by-day without immediate intervention. These challenges can be particularly acute in collaborative programs that comprise many and varied stakeholder groups, and government, industry and academic partnerships.

We specialise in collaborative innovation and programs, and can work with you to identify the key areas of 'program distress' and work closely with your sponsors, clients and stakeholders groups to assess, and where possible recover, the program using a framework of incremental and iterative corrective actions and people focused change management.
